Christmas Experience
Christmas turned out to be colder than I expected. It was somewhere in the ballpark of 50 degrees with rain and wind. Not a shrimp on the barbie kind of day, but still it was a nice Christmas for me. I was amazed at the kindness of the Australian family that I am staying with in Melbourne. They so kindly picked me up from the airport and let me spend Christmas with their family. They celebrated with a big Christmas lunch and lots of games and good conversation. December 26 is called Boxing Day here and today I went with the family, the Barbers, to a nice family picnic at a nearby park. I also got to watch some cricket today and actually learned how the sport works. England's national team is over in Melbourne playing Australia's team. Apparently, this is a big deal and millions of crickets fans will be watching the game. I think cricket is kinda peculiar especially since a game lasts 5 days and they stop play for a cup of tea! I also watched some Australian Rules football, which is similar to rugby. I'm learning all sorts about Australian sports.
