We had a bit of a frustrating day. We had intended to drive up Skagit Mountain using an 8 mile fire road. The road was dirt and gravel with large pot holes. We drove up for about 45 minutes until it got so rugged that our Chevy Malibu could not pass. We then set our sites on finding an Eagle Preserve. We stopped for a picnic at Rainy Lake to give our legs a rest then hiked the Ross Dam trail. It was lo...
Left Bellingham and spent the day at Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Forest. We hiked several trails through 1,000 year old Hemlock trees. Viewed Mt Baker which was still snow covered from last winter. Mt Baker averages 53 feet of snowfall each year.
Rode shuttle to Belingham. Almost missed the bus this morning. We reserved spots on Air Porter but were waiting at the Aeroporter space at the airport. Thanks to a helpful agent we made it just in time. Our driver, Tony, gave us great touring information for the week ahead. He is a native of Bellingham. Driver the bus 5 days a week and works at Safeway part time. He left us at Bellingham International where we rented a Chevy Malibu. Stopped at Whatcom Fal...
Flew to Seattle. Our three segment Southwest flight had no change of planes but included stops in Kansas City and Denver before arriving in Seattle. We made friends with the flight crew and the captain invited us into the cockpit for a look around. We stayed at the SEATAC Hilton amd had a lovely 38th wedding anniversary dinner at a near by Taco Bell.
