What a luxury to spend time with Jason and Nick in their new home. Beautiful home in Lake Forest with a short drive to Laguna Beach. We had a great lunch, ice cream and sat at the beach. What a change from biking all day and sleeping im a tent.

Today we rode into San Diego. It was a slow 40 miles as we went through many urban towns with lots of stip lights. La Jolla seemed especially attractive and we stopped to lunch there. At one stop we saw two rabbits and a large mouse coming in and out of the bushes, almost as though they were hoping to get fed by us. Great weather all day long helped us enjoy a 66 mile ride into Carlsbad. After a brief lunch stop in Laguna Beach, we rode through interesting neighborhoods and then a loud 5 miles down I-5. We were fortunate to have our son, Jason, join us for dinner. Tomorrow we ride into San Diego.

Today was a rough day overall. We woke up to the sound of rain on our tent. Fortunately it was short lived. On the positive side it was 57 degrees which felt warm compared to previous mornings. Riding through Malibu was disappointing as the lack of a bike lane made it difficult to enjoy the views. Tòday was an easy 49 miles to Leo Carrillo Statw Park, just north of Malibu. Highlight of the day was stopping at the Mugu Missle park. The planes and missles were badly rusting but it was interesting to see the actual size of the Polaris and Harpoon missles among several others. The campgroung was nice and open but had hills on both sides which limited the daylight.
