What a day.
4th in a row to get up at five and get going until late. After my normal bed time.
My patience is being tested as I am physically exhausted and the changing of places becomes annoying And the lack of security drives me crazy, so somehow Nepal's attraction of friendly people and long history becomes a even bigger contrast to what I saw today and resides as a disappointment in it's reality.
got up early at five, in a damp smelly little youthtel in Chengdu get to the airport to check in so we can sit next to the window to have a closer look when the plane fly over the Himalayas, only to find out that we sit right next to the wing. Arriving in tibet to transfer and my head starts to pop as a result of being over 3000 metres above sea level. Being through too many times of security check, there I was outside the Kathmandu airport and looked like the perfect easy target. We ended up being surrounded by about five local taxi driver who wanted twenty us dollars, but all the material I read suggested one eighth of the price.
Then we realized we couldn't get anywhere as there is 'fighting' happening which later we found out is a stoke deteriorated into a situation involving armed police in every corner and no vehicle could get through the town. Then, totally new to the country was left at the airport, couldn't find out what was wrong, no place to go and had to get on her feet for way too long and an extraordinary price to find the motel two and half an hour later. Did I mention at the same time there are people being chased by police only ten meter away?
