Seattle is beautiful!
We arrived at around 9pm and after a few circles outside the harbour we were finally allowed in. We could hear family and friends calling from the shore!
Although the welcome was more understated than Qingdao, it was no less warm. It was fabulous to be here. A quick trip to customs and immigration and we were in.
We were given beer and clam chowder and then we're free to get off the boat. I found it quite emotional. The realisation of what we had done was starting to sink in.
I hadn't got a hotel booked but managed to find a room at midnight in a very luxurious hotel - The Westin - with the best bath and bed I've ever seen! Seattle is mega expensive so I have moved to something more budget friendly -The Belltown Inn. It is lovely though with everything I need. Even a shower you could fit 5 people in!
Belltown is a trendy area of Seattle with lots of restaurants and bars. Down town are the usual city centre amenities and all near to the beautiful water frount where our yachts are berthed.
We are doing the big boat shop this afternoon so this morning I've had a wander round Pike's market which is quite famous here. It's full of fresh produce and fab little diners.
I've also posted my foulies and dry suit home so I've a bit more room in my bag!
More sightseeing to come on my proper days off - going to check out a city tour and the Space Needle. Also booked a haircut. Feeling good!
Weather is hot and sunny so back in shorts and flip flops. We all have bright green sunglasses to wear too. Looking good!
Seattle is a great stopover already but it certainly is a city of haves and have not. Lots of homeless people on every street. Puts things in perspective.
Still, looking forward to the rest of our time here.
Icorcoal get in today which will be joyous and sad at the same time.
We are all one Clipper family - always xx
