MEL AND ZOE ON THE MOVE
Airlie Beach- what can i say other then party party party!!!! My memories of this town i must say are slightly blurred. Magnums, as i mentioned was the name of our hostel which comprises of many wooden cabins in tropical forest. They each sleep 8 people and we were fortunate enough to meet some really great friends in Airlie. Two Canadian lads, who were to say the least a bit crazy, are probably two of the nicest people we have met along the way and we spent many an our chilling out on the veranda gearing up for a night out on the town. One day we ventured over to the very well know (with good reason) Whitsunday Islands on a day tour on a speed boat. We stopped off at Whitehaven beach, a beach made of pure silica sand (v fine white sands), and also made two stops to go snorkling off the side of the boat. We even saw and followed a turtle it was quite an experience!
There was a slight downer to Airlie however, in that one- the sun didnt shine very much and two- i had been savaged by bed bugs (no they are not a myth) in the previous town we stayed, so i was covered from head to toe in bites which wasn't very pleasant.
Other than than we had an amazing time here, and i will definately say it is one of my favourite destinations.....so far. Oh and i almost forgot to mention, we saw a snake outside our cabin and a giant lizard thing (didnt catch the name of it but it was huge; trust me zoe thought it was a crocodile!!!)-photos coming soon!
