MEL AND ZOE ON THE MOVE
Ok we saw the Glacier, it was an amazing sight, but even before we reached it we drove through the rainforest which was absolutely spectacular, incidently.the glacier descends into the rainforewst 300m asl.how crazy is that??? We had another heavy night actually, in Franz Josef, population 309 so the barmen, who must get pretty bored, gave us free beer and shots all night and pizza. The evening cost us the grand total of 3pounds!!! We were happy with that!
Saturday we drove up to Westport, nothing to report of here, playing in the rockpools, saw a seal oh yeh and were woken at 6am by the howling wind and rain, so we had to up sticks and move from the beach to town in fear of Timmie being blown over! We don't have the best luch wen it comes to parking!
Sunday we drove further north and planned to stay in Nelson for a couple of nights, but to be honest the towns up there were dead so we drove onto Picton and asked the very nice ferry man to transfer our ticket(with no extra charge!!!!) and we caught the 10pm ferry accross to Wellington and found smewhere to park at 2am.
We didnt stay in Wellington the weather was lousy so we went into town, made use of a hostels facilities (the trick is to walk in like you own the place) then drove up the coast to Napier(boring) and then to Gisbourne where we found somewhere to park for the night on the beach.....v nice.
We awoke again to an overcast day, we think a cloud is following us where ever we go, so we went to town, ate an all you can eat pizza hut buffet to cheer ourselves up, hired some dvds for Timmie and went for a swim.......yes a swim and it was bloody freezing!!!!!
Wednesday we drove up to Opotiki and it was glorious sunshine!! Only thing was on our way there a lorry was speeding and chipped up a stone which managed to crack our windscreen, and no we dont have insurance! Thats it for now i will continue this when i have some money to buy more internet minutes!!
