Day 1: New York City
Accomodation: Shanans lovely apartment- Midtown
Food nad Fashion in NYC
Today i ventured out into a stunning new york day, the sun was shining down filtering the skyscrapers with rays of light. After a short walk up midtown to 47th and 7th Avenue i joined the Hop on/Hop Off Greyline bu tour and headed downtown to Macys, Soho, Empire State Building, Flat Iron Building, Ground Zero, American Indian Musuem, Pier 18, Brooklyn Bridge before finally making it across to Staton Island on the ferry to sail past lady liberty herself.
Highlights included:
1 juicy NYC Hotdog from the vender for $2- although the mustard was a little spicy.
The amazing indian apparel from the early 20th century- very interesting that shells and teeth were considered items of wealth- with two teeth costings more than 2 buffulos- i imagine that was the same as a new dress from chanel or a fendi purse.
Of course- it was not only the teeth that signalled the wealth but the way she wore the teeth- several paintings of indian women adorned in teeth were on display.
