A 14 day trip starting in Darwin and ending in Adelaide, through the centre of Australia.
Part 1
On the 1st day, we left Darwin at the rediculous time in the morning of 6:30! From Darwin we drove for a few hours to Litchfield National Park. Here we saw some waterfalls, swam at the bottom of the waterfalls, we saw some large termite mounds, and went on a cruise along the adeliade river, to see some crocodiles. 2 of the guides on the boat, were making the crocodiles jump out of the water for food, it was amazing to see them jumping out of the water like that! The next 2 days were spent at Kakadu National Park, where we swam in some rock pools, saw some more waterfalls and I cant remember what else we did.
The next day we went to Katherine Gorge, we had a choice of 3 things to do that day, we could either go canoing down the gorge, go on a cruise of just go for a walk and relax etc. My friends and I chose to just relax and go for a walk along the gorge. That night we had a choice of sleeping in the permanent tents, which we'd done in Litchfield and Kakadu or sleep outside under the stars in Swags, after a lot of thinking about it, I decided to slepp outside in the swags, it was fun doing that, but was very cold, I woke up a few times with my face freezing cold. It was fun to sleep outside like that though, we did it again the next night too, and I wasnt as cold that time. The next day was freezing when we woke up, our first stop was Mataranka Thermal Pool, we went for a swim here in water which was 34 degrees! It was so nice and warm compared to how cold it was out of the water, but that meant getting out of the water was horrible, it seemed so much colder after being nice and warm in the thermal pool. We then stopped off at Daly Waters, which is a tiny town, its not even a town, it must just be more a Hamlet then anything, you probably cant even call it a village its so small. When I was there, I felt like I was on a film set, it seems that sereal, and strange, it didnt seem like a real place because it was so quiet and old, it was a nice place though, and our tour guide told us a story about Daly Waters being the first place in the Northern Teritory to have a Macdonalds!
The next day we worked our way down to Alice Springs, we stopped at the Devils Marbels on the way, which to me where just large rocks, so I didnt really see the fascination with them, it was still a fun day though. While we were at the Devils Marbels, me and my friends found some bones, we think they might have been from a cow, but we're not totally sure. We crossed over the Tropic of Capricorn and arrived in Alice Springs at about 4ish in the afternoon.
Part 2 will be in a seperate blog tomorrow, I cant be bothered to write anymore now.
