First three weeks at Bode!!
Friedrichshafen, Germany
My mom wanted me to start a blog so she can be updated on everything but its so hard to do when you want to be with everyone and not sitting on your computer! So this is my fist post and i am going to try to update every week.
But Wow. God is so good. Its only been a little over two weeks and it feels like I have known these people for years. The friendships I have made here are amazing. I am learning so much Canadian hockey slang from all my crazy hilarious canadians! I love it.
Last week our principle spoke on a topic called "Walk the Talk" and this week we are digging in deep into the Sermon on the Mount and I am learning so much. During the course of the year we have to read through the entire old testament. Its hard but good. We have many books to read and papers to write but it is all so good.
A few week ago we hiked the alps in Switzerland and it was amazing! I didn't really hike because I sprained my ankle four days before, but I took the gondola, with three other german girls attending the school, to the top and met the rest of the school there. Yesterday we went to a town that is located on an island on the Bodensee (or lake constance) called Lindau and it was beautiful! I went with seven other people and it was a blast. It was a German holiday so everything was closed besides the cafes but it was perfect. It was freezing in the morning but cleared up enough to see Austria across the lake.
Every sunday we dress up really nice for church and have a really nice lunch after. But we are learning that if we want to eat out, sunday nights are the nights to do it because they feed us the left overs from the past week and it usually isn't very good.
This past Saturday a big group of us went to Munich for Oktoberfest for the day. It rained the entire time but it was so much fun! Everyone was dressed in laderhosen (leather pants) and the girls had the cute german dresses on. It was so different than what I expected. Oktoberfest was like a huge carnival! It is bigger than the state fair in California. It was so crowded and there were many drunk people. We also walked around downtown Munich and went into some really old beautiful churches.
This next saturday we will be heading to the Neuschwenstien castle and I can not wait!
