We have set ourselves some goals for the trip over. The first is to get going by 8am every morning, which with the exception of yesterday has been pretty easy. We were all packed up and in the car by 7 today. We're getting everyone fed, clothed, coffeed and packed up quicker each day, which results in a sense of satisfaction for Gaz and I as we begin our drive each morning, smugly congratulating ourselves on our efficiency. As we've plotted our destinations for each day, the earlier we get to each, the more time we have to explore, play, eat and drink at our chosen camp spot.
Imagine, after our heroic effort of a 7am departure this morning, our disappointment in having 90 minutes added onto our clocks as we crossed the central Australian time zone! Forgot about the time differences between east and west...so instead of crossing into South Australia with heaps of time to spare, we set up camp and got straight into dinner preparations, as we are now a full hour and a half ahead of WA. The camp overlooks the ocean and although beautiful, is blowing a harsh, cold wind. I knock up some chicken chasseur and stew up our leftover stone fruit and we eat a pretty decent dinner (if I may say so!) followed by some pretty energetic games of 'trouble' and 'guess who'. The kids are happy, Gaz and I haven't killed each other yet, everything is going smoothly and life feels great. I have a lot to be grateful for right now.
