Thursday 18-06 ~ Friday 19-06
What better way to spend my last evening, while it's all thunder and rain outside, warm and dry in my little mobile home. And here's what's on my table: a lovely white wine, tasty Italian bread, creamy mozzarella, a young pecorino with truffle, bresaola (dried beef - yummy), eggplant filled with herbs, garlic and veggies and another Italian cheese which name I forgot. Candles are lit, Rufus is singing in the background and I am relaxed.
Yesterday I visited one of the most beautiful museums I've ever seen until now, in Humlebaek, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, to the North of Copenhagen. Beautiful - not just because of its wide range of artists represented in the collection, but the way the building is laid out, with beautiful gardens located at the seaside. I came across a couple of photographs by Richard Avedon, whose works were exhibited in Amsterdam just recently and I was - of course - too busy to go see it. Now I regret not making time. This photographer had a way in which he could capture people, it hits you when looking at their faces, it's captivating. Treated myself to a book with most of his pictures represented in it. As I drove home taking the B-road along the shore, I started feeling less and less well, but needed to eat something so stopped at a seaside village called Rungsted, with docks and a huge fleet of sailboats. OK, it's a bit yuppy but eating the 'famous' fishcakes with small potatoes covered in a dill-mustard sauce, I was not complaining…By the time I paid my bill however I was feverish. Drove home and went straight to bed (at 18.00!) and did not wake up until early next morning and luckily I felt a little better. I am now finishing off this lovely day of wandering about Cristianshavn (where you find Christiania, quite an alternative commune, which has been a freestate until now, although the Copenhagen city wants to remove its inhabitants). The weather is indecisive, it rains, storms, is sunny and then rains again. It doesn't bother me. The only problem with this kind of weather is photography. So hopefully I will have better weather on my return when I will spend a long weekend in Copenhagen with my chum Sabine.
I do miss people (already). Little Fem, Sabine's littl'un but may be more so because I spent my last three days before I left with them and she is so awfully cute. When I get back she will be half a year old and grown so much. And I miss others but I won't be listing them, just in case I leave someone out ;oP.
(Btw. Some of you will be proud of me, tried on two pairs of shoes but ended up not buying them. Went into a baby clothes store and did not buy anything for Fem. I am learning…!)
(Btw 2, I know some of you were asking whether I have already come across a cute, handsome, caring, strong, tall Viking, you know the true love of my life...I have just arrived!!!! Give me some time to be a teeny bit selective!)
Speak of bad planning: I should be in Sweden this eve drinking schnaps and eating herring on Midsummer's Eve but then I still have Midsummer's Day (tomorrow…) Off to Malmo!
