Well we finally got here .. lol.
Sunday night we had to get up at 2.30am and go to the train station to catch our train. Surprise, surprise it was delayed ... until 9.30am. Which could have meant we could have had a full nights sleep in the hotel room but of course we'd already checked out by this point *groans*. So we kinda slept on the floor of the station lol.
We travelled up to Albany, NY and had to change there for Boston. We were thinking about going to the main station in NYC and changing there but were recommended to get on that other train. We should have got to Boston at 7pm yesterday night and instead got here at 2am hehe. If we'd gone to NYC we would have got here at 7am!!
So we basically got in a taxi and got to our hotel, slept until 12.30pm (I don't think I've ever slept past noon before but 2 nights of very little sleep does that to you ...) then walked to the train station near us. The taxi driver was REALLY helpful, showed us where the station was on the way to our hotel and recommended we didnt get on the buses hehe. The train was fairly easy once we figured out you had to buy a pass first and which direction to go in. So far, Boston actually looks a lot like England - small windy streets (some cobbled) and 2 storey buildings!
We have wandered round quite a bit and Matt has declared it's his favourite city so far because it's quite pedestrianised and really does remind us a lot of England. We just found the most gorgous little Italian restaurant for lunch and ate French bread and olive oil and vegetable lasagne ... it was YUMMY and sooo cheap.
We'll be here for quite a while (maybe all week) and then spend a few days in Washington before going to Vegas with Kate and (hopefully) Jeff too!! I'm hoping I can meet up with my friend Mary although apparently she's working all week (booo).
