Things here have been a bit poopy!.. It was such a set back about the receptionist job for the building brokers. It seemed like the perfect job, most jobs here everyone has to travel about an hour (long story short, was offered a job but apparently they couldn't be insured if anything happened to me because I was on a working holiday visa). I didn't mind that I like travelling haha. But like my Mum and Dad said it only means something better is coming..
And it was!! Jamie went for his trail for his fundraising job on Thursday and I had a job interview for a fund raiser, I got a phone call from the Job coordinator Kim at our Backpackers Lounge, Everyone here is aware how difficult me and Jamie have found getting jobs, So Kim said they was looking for someone to do some cash in hand admin and filing work for them and they thought of Me!! So I planned to head there after my interview. Half hour later Kim called again, this time she said she had been told about a retail job in which she wanted to put me forward for, so she asked if I could email her a picture of myself so I did..
Off i toddled to the job interview (which was rubbish!!) She said that we would be invited back for a second interview based on our personalities, but she didn't ask us questions or give us a chance to speak?!
Anyway.. I met Jamie and off we went to the Lounge so i could do my temp job for the day and He could job hunt because he wasn't too keen on his.
Kim advised me that the Man from the retail job would call me Early evening regarding the job. So off I went with $60 in my pocket from my 4 hours work.. We went food shopping then got the train back to our flat.. On the train my phone started to ring, just my luck my reception kept cutting out, luckily I forewarned him about hit and he was fine.. Once off the train he began explaining that he was part of a independent Fashion company which sells to boutique shops.. explained my job roles, which would include
· Receiving and preparing sample collections for sales meetings;
· Maintaining showroom cleanliness and appearance;
· Restoring sample collections to immaculate presentation readiness at the conclusion of each showing;
· Food and beverage service;
· Reception function (telephone and personal);
· Data entry;
· Other administrative tasks as directed.
When he mentioned about unpacking clothes I explained my experience wiht Outfit and setting up the store.
At the end of the conversation he asked what my availability was and when I could start to which I explained I could start as early as tomorrow!! (Friday 19th July).. To he replied well I've got a girl starting tomorrow she will be working the 8am-4pm shift and would I be able to work 10am-6pm Monday Friday @ $20p/h before tax!! IT WAS AS EASY AS THAT!! He didn't even want to see me for an interview!! So on Monday 22nd July 2013 I begin employment!! He explained that the job may only be 6-8 weeks work but 1) it's a star and 2) he may like me enough to keep me on!!
I cannot believe this job offer!! It was only 3 weeks ago that me and Jay sat down and I explained my stupid idea of maybe doing something with Fashion, weather it be a fashion journalist or whatever!!
So that's it for now!!
Happy Reading!!
