we actually almost got swindled by a street merchant here. he was talking to us and then gave us necklaces as free gifts. not so much. he then proceeded to ask for change from us. we shoved the necklaces back at him and told him NO. I tried to explain we were poor students: nous sommes pauvres étudiantes!
