I headed off on a 6 day Easyrider BackPacker bus tour today. With Easyrider you have a 'Jump on - Jump off' option which means that you can get off whereever you want and stay extra days at places but I am just going to stay on for the whole 6 days straight just to have a look around.
Had to be outside Easyrider offices at 7.15 this morning, so much for a weekend sleep in! And the bus was late! It was very overcast and miserable weather. The coldest it has been since I got here.
Our first stop was Bunbury where we stopped at Koombana Bay to see if there were any dolphins. Hmm seemed unlikely and sure enough we didn't see any dolphins much to the disappointment of many of the girls on the bus.
After lunch at Meelup beach (which means 'place of the moon' in Aboriginal) we got to explore Ngigli's cave. Aboriginal folklore has it that the good spirit Ngigli once fought a bad spirit that lived in the cave and was stealing all the water and then when Ngigli won he decided to live in the cave himself.
Next stop was a vineyard for a bit of wine tasting then to the 'Margaret River Chocolate Company' where yip you guessed it we got some free chocolate.
From stuffing our faces we travelled to Margaret River which was to be our stop for the night. Checked out Surfer's Point which is where they have one of the pro tour surfing comps and is apparently the only place where the waves break both left and right. (I don't know enough about surfing to be 100% on that one but was what we were told)
