Good afternoon... well we are finally online.. actually we are now in Budapest.. but here is a recap of Amsterdam.
Day 1 June 6th
Welll Friday was a very long day, after arriving at Schipol at 6 am in the morning, we spent the next couple of hours waiting for our apartment to be ready. After a long grueling day (me grumpy of course lol) we finally checked into our apartment which was looking over the Blau Bridge (Blue Bridge) beautiful view from the apartment and very nice location!!
We hit up a little cafe near Waterlooplein and they had the best espresso and coffee just a little shop overlooking the market. This place becomes our favorite little spot for a nice morning coffee.
So after we checked in we took a very long nap and around 10 pm we decided to go down and walk a little bit and get a drink in. Literally there was pub right down stairs!! just a little cozy pub, with good drunk Dutch people.
Day 2 June 7th
After a nice rest we hit the town. We went to the riechts museum where Anna was able to get a picture before they noticed we had a camera. Really cool seeing Rembrandts Night Watch, I new the painting was big, but it was bigger than I had thought.. was huge!
Then off to the Van Gogh's museum, they had some really nice paintings along with some nice works from Pissaro, Monet, Gauguin and some Picasso. Oh yea.. Van Gogh was on display. And they also had a printing exhibition at the Van Gogh (I am a geek!!) which was really cool to see that stuff...
We hit up Leidesplein and that is great people watching for sure, the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam is a sight to see. So many interesting and unique people.
HUP HOLLAND>>> HUP HOLLAND (more to come about that)
Then we decided to take Anna to her first Rock club experience, I had been to this place before and had fond memories.. I did not disappoint Anna, nothing but metal and metal heads in the bar... Anna soaked it up, and soaked up a couple of Smirnoff ices lol Go crazy Anna!! lmao.
Day 3 Sunday June 8th
Today was the canal cruise... took a nice hour long tour that actually went right in front of our apartment... very cool tour, boat was hot, only negative thing about it.
Then on to Dam Square and the town was bustling as well as the vollyball players on the square.. lots of tourists and people watching for sure.
Then we took a stroll down the red light district.. well I dont need to explain that do I? chicks in windows...
Early night ... Sundays day of rest.. Sat on the canal and watched the boats go by and crazy man singing on bridge.
Day 4 Monday June 9th
Monday we went to the Anne Frank Museum.. that is a great museum to go to.. Anna really enjoyed that as well... it is my second time but still an awakening experience..
Then down the street was the Homomonument.. tribute to the LBGT community...
SOOO on Monday there was a big game between Holland and Italy in the Europe 2008 Championships (soccer aka football) and let me tell you this town is decked out in orange.. it looked like a big orange threw up and there was everything decked out in orange lol but what fun .. seriously soccer fans are nuts!!
oh and Holland won.... and well the celebration kept going until the wee morning.. had to shut our windows for the noise lol
>>> HUP HOLLAND>>>
>>>>>>>>when we went to our little pub, the bartender hooked us up with some HUP HOLLAND t-shirts and sweat bands... we have a little welpie (their mascot) in our bags...
Amsterdam is a great city for a new travel to start in.. easy to manuvere.. friendly people and when you had a great apartment like we did here, makes it even more fun....
Tuesday June 10th... off to BUDAPEST BABY>>>>>>>>>>>>>
