Recap of our trip...
I wont make this too long..
Amsterdam was a charming and wonderful town, as it always is.. the people are charming and lots of fun. Was a good starting point for my 2 travel companions.. I love this town simply because of its free spirited thinking. Very quaint and a good place to have some beers. And a side note, the Euro Cup 2008 Football (aka Soccer) was going on, what a fun time to have been in Holland for that!! HUP HOLLAND!! it was so much fun cheering for the Netherlands and cheering with the locals!! they are so crazy about their football over there, but it was a blast being there and watching the matches.
Budapest was amazing.. from our arrival we were blown away by the city. Larger than life and steeped in so much history. We were amazed by Heroes square, the enormity of the square really took our breath away.
Despite the language barrier, we did ok. Nothing in their language remotely resembles ours, almost felt like being in Russia (since it was a communist country at one point) Experiencing the city was a joy.. everywhere we turned around was a photo opportunity for us. Food was good, although no regular breakfast as we do here in the states...
So we head to the little town of Heviz in Hungary. A 3 hour train ride from Budapest, that train ride was an adventure.. the train was so packed, people had to stand, and we literaly had the s***tiest seat in the house.. one small seat in front of entrance to the toilet.. not pleasant!! the people finally started to let out after about an hour and we finally got a regular seat on the train. It was the kind of experience that you can laugh about...
We arrived in Heviz at our resort and it is a nice little resort... very family orientated and we were the only Americans at the resort for sure!!! We had a 3 bedroom house, very Hungarian! very cute. Most of the people from the resort were from Germany and Hungary. Nice pool, got a pedicure for all of us... and a bar which closed too early lol
We took a little day trip out of the resort into Vienna.. was about a 3 hour ride into Vienna. What a cool city!! very beautiful!! We ate at a little side cafe and chit chatted with the locals who were very funny and lively!! Had a great little lunch and a nice beer. We found a clock for Jen's dad, so we were happy lol
We are so glad we went to Vienna.. definitely would go back to see that town! Great shopping and I think there was a gelato place every 50 feet.. guess Austrians really like there ice cream...
There is so much to say about our trip.. I wont say it all here... Going to upload most of the photos for everyone to see. I apologize now... I dont know of all the names of where we went or what building was what...lol
It was an amazing trip and we will go back to Europe again in the near future for sure!!
Everyone should have the opportunity to travel and you should!! there is so much out there to see!!
