Heaven DOES exist!
Our resort "Sri Lanta"- what a coincidence- as my next stop SRI Lanka- is a dream!
The reception team, 6 ladies, ~1-2 are real ones, welcomed us and gave us an upgrade from cottage to veranda! Nice!
Walking up to the Veranda, they put both our bags in ONE room- as they thought we wud stay together - but we even booked it separately and booked 2 rooms!
When we went to the spa ( Caroline- full body massage, me facial) - they also guided us in one room and it took Caroline a lot of convincing, to get her own room.
Well, after I had been asked by the bus driver earlier that morning, if Caroline was my husband, it was now OFFICIAL! Everybody thinks we are a couple :(
Unfortunately, the yoga teacher here is on holiday, so we had to find another place, which was easily arranged.
Yesterday we rented some scooters and drove around the whole island!
Koh Lanta really looks like paradise! So many palms, gum trees and wild bananas. Hardly any tourists here! Very backwards, but just incredibly beautiful and charming!
People are super nice here. A mix of Buddhists, Muslims and Christians- so you hear them singing, praying ect.
Generally their English is pretty poor, so it's very difficult to communicate! In every sentence you hear at least once "same same" or "same same but different". By now we speak similar just so they understand us.....! Eg it's sooo niiy.....same same !
The gas stations are little metal racks, with some glass bottles filled with petrol, or the more advanced ones do actually have a pump.
Wild monkeys are everywhere, we have geckos in the bathroom, a toad on my veranda, singing chameleons on the roof and a snake was by the beach! Nature at its best.
Sunset is directly in front of the resort and the hotel restaurant has some of the best Thai food I ever ate.
Went to yoga at 8 am-a 20min scooter ride. Relaxing by the pool and another scooter trip later. Life is wonderful...!
Booked a pedi- mani for 300 baht in a place close by! Turns out, we went into the women's living room. Felt a little uncomfortable- she literally had a huge bed in which she is doing the massages, 2 chairs for the pedicure, 2 tv's and a cupboard with some Buddhas- that's it! Outside her house she sells gas ( in glass bottles) and some water!
We hardy see man working here- no idea where they all hide ! Asking the receptionist about it, her answer was: Muslim men don't work or they own gum trees and are rich!
Fair enough- my husband Caroline will buy some gum trees then and I can work!
