Today we went to two underground churches, they were amazing. Then we went to Faye's underground house built by 3 women using picks, shovels and wheelbarrows. After that we went "noodling" for opals (this means pick around through stones and rubble looking for opals), we didn't find any!
We also went on a mine tour and learnt all about opal mining and what it used to be like in the mines, and also about the discovery of opals in the Coober Pedy area. Did you know that Coober Pedy has more opals than anywhere in the world?
We had lunch at Crystal Cafe which is also under the ground. It was delicious
We drove to the breakaways which are large mountains that were once under the sea (yes, that's right, the sea once filled the centre of Australia, millions of years ago).
Thanks for all your messages, hope you all enjoyed the snow. The weather here is a bit nicer, sunny but still with a cold wind.
