Today we travelled into Jim Jim Falls. It was a 50km drive down another fairly ordinary dirt road. Next came the tough 2km walk to the falls over very large rocks. It was worth the effort. The walls of the gorge were amazingly high. There was only a small trickle of water coming over, but it is easy to imagine what it would be like in full flow.
We had a swim in the plunge pool at the bottom of the falls. It was very cold and the water was very deep (about 14m under the falls). After we hopped out, we watched another person going for a swim and were quite surprised to see that there was actually a crocodile in the water as well! Glad he didn't pay us any attention.
We attempted the drive to Twin Falls, however,, the water over the road at the river crossing was too deep for the car so we had to turn back - will need to put it on the list for next time!
