Isn't it Spring??!!!
Waking up this morning .... oh what a surprise! The ground was covered with a couple inches of snow. And, I thought we were meant to be in spring! So a holiday that was meant to be warm turns out filled with surprises and adventures - so rather than spend a day in the snow without the proper attire and not being able to get to see things in the Black Hills that we still wanted to we thought we had better high-tail it out of here before we get snowed in and can't get out. (We had heard that there was yet to be 6-8 inches of snow to fall in the next day).
So carefully driving out trying to find the driveway of the RV park we cautiously make our way through the Black Hills. When we visited Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse yesterday the kids were given booklets to fill out to get certificates and and become junior park rangers of Mount Rushmore. We stopped in at these places on the way past and they were sworn in as Junior Park Rangers and were given certificats at Crazy Horse - lots of show and tell when we get home!!!!
Through the mountains it was so beautiful and Mount Rushmore was already under 8 inches of snow. It was slow going, but the roads weren't icy just slushy. The mountain lake looked like a postcard. When we got to Rapid City the snow started to cease and the rain started and continued for our whole drive - 6 1/2 hours of drive. Drove right across the state to Sioux Falls through the Bad Lands of South Dakota - couldn't see much as the rain and low cloud didn't make it easy to see. It was a good drive ...... no hassles!!!
Got into Sioux Falls about 7pm - great to be somewhere with out the cold and snow.
In Christ, Anne
