True to form I caught some nasty germs on the plane. Snotty nose, bad head and aches. I feel a bit better today though. Gareth seemed to escape this though.....must have good genes.
So, we are staying our in the suburbs called Arat Kilo & Siddist Kilo. The side streets are littered with small shacks whch serve as local convenience stores. The main streets have lots of shoe-shine boys, cripples, homeless and beggers. They are no problem though. It's very dusty and our noses hurt so much!
Yesterday we went into the City Centre - what a difference!! The people don't seem so friendly (unless they are trying to con you). We were constantly harrassed, someone tried to get into my bag, lots of beggers and young groups which offer a guide around the city. They start off all nicey nicey andfind it difficult to take no for an answer. I was glad to get back to our friendly suburb area.
Last night we tried traditional Ethiopian fod. It was like a stew served with injera. Injera is a fermented bread which looks and feels like a flannel. You use this as a tool to scoop up the stew and then eat the bread....can't really describe what it tastes like.
Today we are off to a place called Chancho where we will visit the Murge Gorge......not looking forward to tackling the bus station at Mercato if yesterday was anything to go by.
Love to all x
