Ok so i have still been trying to keep myself busy by doing lots of things. I went on half day a food and wine tour in the Swan Valley just outside of Perth. It started off pretty good, 3 wineries, 1 brewery and a chocolate factory later after tasting 34 different wines/ports, it was very good! There was an older crowd on the tour but there were s couple of really nice girls on it too so i wasnt on my own.
Ive also been on a 3 day tour of the South West of WA. It involved really early mornings and lots of time on a coach but it was worth it. We got to see and do things that you wouldnt even know about if you were driving yourself.
The tour took us down through the Margaret River where we did wine tasting and then on to Bussleton where they have the longest jetty in the southern hemesphere. We also went caving (which i wasnt too keen on) but it was still good to see. There is also a 75meter tree that we could climb!! It only had steel poles spiraling up the tree and no safety net! The safety briefing was, 'dont slip, if you do you will die!' Needless to say i didnt climb it. Not many people did either.
There was also a walk that we did through some tree tops in the Valley of the giants. I wasnt keen on this either and just looked straight ahead and walked fast to get to the other side.
There was loads of other things we did including visiting Elephant Rocks, Greens pool, The Gap etc. It was a very outdoors tour with lots of getting on and off the coach but i really enjoyed it. We were fed well with 3 meals per day. There was a mix of people on the tour, some older and some backpackers. There was also a mix of nationalities including Swiss, Italian, Chinese, Canadian, British, Australia, German and French.
I was glad to get back from the tour because i was been bitted by loads of mozzies on the last day so my leggs are all spotty. Im moving hostels today becuase the one im at not is full voer the weekend so im going to Old Swan Barracks for 2 nights and then off on another tour to Adelaide on Sunday.
I have also invested in a suitcase. My rucksack was fine but i realsied it was colder down south and i needed to buy a jacket but had no way of fitting it in to my rucksack so ive bought a nice big suitcase with a lot more space. Its also easier to travel with because of the wheels. I finally did a bit of shopping yesterday and bought some shorts but that meant that i cant do anything else while im in perth because i need to make sure i dont leave myself short with money when i get to Melbourne.
Everything is expensive over here :-( but hoping to work for 4 weeks in Melbourne so it should be fine.
