We are picked up at the airport by Anisa's dad, Charles, at 9:30 p.m.Its dark and we're tired. We head home, to Claremont, have a short chit chat and go to sleep.
Saturday, April 19.
We have a late morning, and have a slow start to the day.Charles and Sholeh have a little overview of Perth planned for us.Around 1 we head out for our tour.Driving around downtown Perth, past the Mint, Northbridge, …Then we head to the cultural Centre in Northbridge. There are a few stands and some people. We go to the gallery, there is an exhibit of Grade 12 students, and then a photo exhibit. We go past the library, into the museum, have a quick look at the critters of Australia. Then we pop into the Contemporary Art Gallery, and back to the car.Driving around for a bit to find a restaurant before. We head over to the Burswood - go up and down the elevator. And have a bite at an Indo restaurant before we head to Fremantle for a Jazz concert.
Sunday, April 20
We get up early to go to the Anglican church just 3 blocks from there house.Everyone was so old.We left before communion. Then mom and I head for Fremantle for the day.We went to the 'Fremantle Markets', walked around, found the prison, then went to the cultural center. After a long day of wandering we headed back to Claremont. We then went for dinner with Charles and Sholeh for a truly Persian dinner with their Ba'hai community. It was fantastic!
Monday, April 21
We head into Perth bright and early, around 10ish.We went downtown and saw all that.Hopped on the Cat and rode around townSaw the Swan Bell Tower, the Supreme Court (with a sentencing trial for murder on), Supreme Court Gardens, the City Hall (built by prison inmates), some tourist shops, had to buy some clothes because it was too chilly for the clothes we brought. We took the Cat back to Northbridge to have lunch at this Greek shop. Then we did the cultural center again, going through the whole museum, and checking out the library.Mom went to the clinic to get something for the little infection she had in her hand.(which led to disaster). Then we went to Kings Park on the Cat again.Walked around and headed back to the train station.
Tuesday, April 22
We get up and get going to the Aquarium ofWestern Australia.A long journey, but a really great time.Hillary's - the suburb where it is located is a beautiful Quay like area, that is a really expensive suburb.Mom doesn't feel well so we head home instead of elsewhere.I then head out to Subiaco and have a look around, do a bit of shopping and get a couple good buys.
Wednesday, April 23
Mom is still sick.REALLY sick!I head out for the day, going to Subiaco, then Cottesloe and then to Claremont.I walk for a few hours in Subiaco, finally find the Salvation Army Thrift store, then head to Cottesloe beach.Hop back on the train, its really windy there, and I sit and read for a bit. There are lots of surfers out in the water.I head back to the 'Claremont Shops'.And again, I find a couple good buys, check out some shoes, and head back to the house.
Thursday, April 24
I get up stupid early and head into Perth for the tour.Mom is still too sick to move from bed.I have to go on the tour by myself.I head into Perth and arrive 1hr before departure.I really have to learn to be less punctual. We head off down south for a tour of southwestern Australia.First stop is the Busselton Jetty.A 2km long jetty. Then back on the bus. Next we head to this really amazing cave. There is 100% humidity in the cave and it was discovered by accident by a man searching for his horse in 1903. Then as we are pulling into the vineyard, the tour guide gets the bus and trailer hung up on a hill.Kind of funny. We go to the vineyard, chocolate factory, and cheese factory all in Margaret River, followed by a candy shop. What a great time. Then we go to the look out point of the Indian Ocean meeting the Margaret River. We watch the great huge waves and the sunset. We are behind schedule and head to Augusta to have our bbq and go to sleep.BBQ is great, then to sleep.
Friday, April 25
We get up early again, up and at'em.First thing is the 'Bicentennial Tree'.It's 60m's high, and I climbed to the half way point. It's really trippy - you get all dizzy and messed up.Then we went to the Valley of the Giants and the TreeTop Walk.A bridge that was designed to emulate walking on the tree tops.It was an architectural competition and an architect from WA won.The highest point is 40m.Then there is a walk around the Tuart trees.Really interesting how these trees hollow themselves out. Then we head to the green pool and the elephant rocks. We hang out here for a bit, throwing around the football and just chillin. We head towards Albany for the Gap and the Natural Bridge. Its pretty amazing, but scary.A Canadian died there 3 weeks ago because he went too close to the edge and was sucked it.YIKES.Head back to the hostel in Albany and the Italian Job cook the Spaghetti Bolognese for 3 hours before we can eat.
Saturday, April 26
We go to the headrock and the ANZAC memorial in Albany. My legs aren't walking well b/c of the tree climb. You can see a panoramic view from here. Then we go to another mountain for a 500m hike, but I can't go b/c I don't have proper footwear. Then we head to the winery.Have a little tasting and have leftovers for lunch before we get a new bus driver and a ride back to Perth. All the cool cats are left there to continue the tour.5 hour bus ride back to Perth.I get back to Claremont, have dinner and crash.
Sunday, April 27
I feel really sick and weak so we stay home.Mom is a bit disappointed, but stays home.We watch Lord of the Rings and Friends with Jenny.
Monday, April 28
We get up and go to Rockingham and Penguin Island. It's pouring rain, and the bus driver takes us to the front door!WOW!But it took us 2 hrs to get there. It was a really great time, watching the penguin feeding, seeing the massive pelicans, and then the seal tour.Seeing the seals, and the cormants. We head back through Fremantle.Get back to Claremont and go for pizza party with the Ba'hai community friends again.
Tuesday, April 29
We get up, hang out with Jenny and then at lunch'ish time head to Cottesloe. Then we head to Subiaco and Claremont. We head home to cook dinner, but the pasta sauce is cooked so we watch Friends and prepare a salad and the pasta. …Off to the airport.
