Our first stop was Viana do Castelo but we weren't impressed by the dirty campsite so left there as soon as we could the next morning and headed south along the coast, stopping at a beach along the way for some relaxing sunbathing before staying in Vila Cha, a lovely campsite near the beach. Further south and we spent the day yesterday in Porto, which is just beautiful! It's full of beautiful buildings, steep streets full of people and shops and lovely views across the Douro river. We had a bus tour of the city and saw what it had to offer with the wind blowing to cool the very hot day. We stopped for a drink across the water in Vila Nova de Gaia, where the port manufacturers are and just enjoyed the moment for a while. It was then time to leave and head to a campsite in Espinho for the evening....soup, shower and sleep!
Today we headed further South to Aveiro which is a lovely little town, famous for it's fishing. It has a central canal and little gondolas like in Venice and we spent a couple of hours exploring before heading to the beach to collect shells and have lunch and then finished off the day by driving about 150 km inland to Guarda, in the Serra da Estrela. It is sooooo hot! Now we are going to find a McDonalds for a sundae and free wifi so you can read this story! Hope you are all enjoying work and the Dutch/British Summer.
