Howdy folks Well we're in Venezuela now - after what seemed like an age in Peru. We followed the well travelled 'gringo trail' and left a few days early so we could spend a bit more time here. Journey to Caracus was pretty good - had a nice hotel booked in town. Caracus by all accounts is very dangerous - muggings, kidnappings - all that sort of stuff. Decided to play it safe - just to overnight and get out asap.Was pretty nervy when we landed - thankfully it was late afternoon & we had enough time to buy our tix for the next day and catch a rip off cab into the city before dark. No dodgy dealings tho'- so no need for Dean to think about kicking off (literally speaking...) Still pretty scary driving past police check points - and seeing guys with machine guns :-! Flew out the next morning, and we're now sunning ourselves on Venezuela's largest island - situated in the Caribbean sea. I reckon we could even swim to Trinidad and Tobabgo if we set our minds to it! No longer hard core travellers - thinking about following the LP beach bum route for the next 3 weeks...
