Back in Bris for a few days to re charge and unwind. Goodness..Darwin is a pretty awful place. Full full full of nasty bugs and so hot and humid - it's also really sad to see all the homeless on the streets. We were pretty gald to get out - and head back to Queensland. I did have one rather interesting / awful experience the last night in Darwin. We headed to a backpackers bar to have some food and meet up with everyone we'd done the Kakadu trip with. They were giving out raffle tickets - and true to form one of mine and Dean's tickets was the very first to be called. Dean just turned his back and said ' well - i'm not going up' - so I (stupidly) went to the fron expecting to be handed some crappy prize and was told to get on stage. At which point I turned and mouthed obscenties at Dean - and considered bolting for the nearest exit. The guy could obvioulsy see that I wasn't to keen on getting on the stage and he said "come one everyone give the old girl a bit of support" OUCH! About 20 terrifying minutes later the ordeal was over - I was really really trying to have an out of body experience - so that I could just look down upon myself and see rather than feel the shame! Suffuce to say - it wasn't all that bad. I wasn't made to do anything too awful - just play the didg on a vacuum cleaner tube, and as I had been practising playing on the real thing a few days earlier, I actually won the comp' and got some free beer, food and a CD. Am beginning to think that I am actually quite lucky :-) Yesterday was spent with the Spoto's - was lovely Lexie's 1st birthday party. And was a cutey she is. Tommorrow we leave Bris for the last time - and head to Cairns via the red centre. Should be interesting - we met someone in Bellingen that had stopped in a towm with a population of 4! Am hoping to better it!
