Back where it all began, Los Angles. After reading copious amounts of travel blogs I thought this would be a good way to keep in contact with everyone back home with our upcoming adventures. But I thought it would be nice to have a look back at America and everything we did, whilst my memories are still fresh (ish).
So 26th May 2013 was where it all began. We flew from Heathrow to LA on what was probably the oldest Virgin Atlantic plane going sipping champagne loving life. We arrived at the grandest hotel I have ever seen (far too posh for us) and much to Max's despair we had two double beds in our room ;)!! We sent the first few days exploring LA and making the most of the sunshine on Santa Monica beach! We headed to Hollywood universal studios and managed to navigate our way around on the Metro with only a few errors!
Then it was time for Contiki, by far the best part of our trip and so excited to do it again in Australia (Thanks STA for sorting that out). We met some amazing and lovely people and really did have 'the best day of our lives'. First stop was San Diego, we both fell in love instantly with the beautiful beaches, Gaslamp district and not to forget San Diego zoo.. Everyone was highly amused at my excitement over seeing the elephants (I could have watched them all day) and we had our first night out with the whole tour! Then it was onto Phoenix, Arizona. Somewhere I would love to go back to one day as we didn't have enough time to explore what we thought was a lovely city with VERY good night life. Definitely our best night out, midget bar, shot roulette and playing DJ in a local bar. What I can remember we had a pretty good night which we suffered for it the next day!
Next stop was the Grand Canyon, which was pretty special. I was truly breath taken. We did every activity we could, viewpoints, helicopter rides, picnics and watching the sun go down over the canyon. Was a nice relaxing few days before VEGAS!! Another place we need to go back to.. Two days just wasn't enough! I love everything about Vegas, it's tacky and cheap and wonderful!! Was a pretty crazy 48 hours before we moved onto the tranquil Yosemite. We stayed in the most gorgeous resort Bass Lake, the perfect wind down after Vegas. It was so beautiful and Max was mesmerised by the amazing waterfalls. We hiked to a really incredible spot and spent the whole day wandering around the park in ore. We spent the evening eating smores around the bonfire, a boat party and a pretty cool karaoke bar where I sang a special song for Max ;).. Then it was time for San Francisco, Probably the place we felt most let down by. I was so looking forward to it but the hobos and dirty atmosphere did put a bit of a downer on it. Never the less we still had a lot of fun, exploring pier 39, shopping at union square, cheesecake factory, china town and lots more. It was a busy few days! After that we headed back down the west coast to Santa Barbra for our last night with Contiki. Was fun getting everyone involved in the my vagina game and I think we definitely had a few to many drinks resulting in a drunken argument we couldn't quite remember the next morning! Silly us!! Then it was time to say goodbye and move onto Newport.
After a really fast paced two weeks exploring the west coast we were quite pleased to check into our AMAZING hotel and unwind for a few days with no 'Bags to coach 7:45'. I managed to convince Max to upgrade our rooms and it was so worth it. The room was incredible and the views were so beautiful. Waking up to sea everyday was a bit better than Max's ugly face!! We did lots of exploring and I was loving every minute of being in the OC (although Seth Cohen was nowhere to be seen). We shopped at fashion island (spent a good few hours in Victoria's secret), ate in the OC dinner on the harbour and I took Max for his first pedicure. Add another trip to the cheesecake factory, a unsuccessful trip to the cinema and the most amazing dinner we ate of the whole trip and I'd say it was a successful few days.
Now it was time to leave sunny California (boo hoo) and head to the east coast. Goodbye LA… Hello NYC!!!!
I miss this trip so much, I hope our next adventures are just as much fun!!
