We arrived in Queenstown and immediatly we realised that this was another youthfuyl and energetic city, however, like most cities in New Zealand it was about the size of Guildford! Our accomadation was located outside the city, half way up the mountain it is located on. Although the view was pretty impressive out first thopught was that this was going to suck walking back after a heavy night. Our first night we decided to recover from the long drive and Jack also decided to his bungey jump.
The next day Jack went off to do his jump, whereas Louise and I decided to check out the city and also catch a film at the cinema. That night we went out to the "world bar" and experienced the cocktail teapots (basically cocktails served in teapots). On the way home we stopped at Ferg Burger, the best burger place in the world. After a small feast there we made are way back up to the hostel which confirmed what we suspected, it was a b**** to walk up that mountain!
The following day we woke up after 3 hours sleep to head to Milford Sound, 4 1/2 hours away. After an early morning ice-cream to fight the hangover headache, i was good to go. When i got there though, my breath was taked away as i looked upon the fjordland. This was one of the main reasons that i had come to New Zealand and i was not dissapointed. We took the boat cruis through the fjordland seeing the area close up as well as some seal colonies. After taking it all in we started the long drive home exhausted, but we still decided to pick up some random hitchhikers who we forced to play the traffic light game! When we got home we decided against going out as the following day we had our sky dive.
I woke up and immedietly i was bricking it! However, when i got there and was suited up, for some reason my nerces went away. In the plane on the way up the kept on pointing various scenery out but i was having none of it because i just wanted to do my jump! When Jack jumped though before me, it was a tiny bit scary as he seemed to just dissapear! But then it was my turn and we just went without much thought! The feeling was incredible as if you were floating but at the same time you feel like you're falling! On the way down we fell through a rainbow and then after he had deployed the parachuted we flew over a helicopter which was cool but a bit dodgy!
The rest of the afternoon was on big adrenaline rush from the mornings events! That night we went to town with an American couple that we met at the hostel. The rest of the evening i dont really remember!
The following daywe got our final Ferg Burger as it was time to leave Queenstown to head to Dunedin. We arrived there late afternnon and went to watch the rugby and get a few drinks. It was then that we met up with friend back home Lawrence Hobden who happened to be in town when we were. He has been living in New Zealand for the last five months. After a quick catch up Jack, Louise and I headed back because we had a long drive to our final destination in New Zealand, Christchurch.
We stopped only a few times the next day, stopping only a few times to see the Maoraki Boulders and some lake. In Christchurch we met up with Sophie and Sophie, Louise's original travelling buddies. We got a few last drinks as Jack and i were leaving to Sydney the next day.
We said our goodbyes early the next morning and Jack and i took the car back. However there was a massive error in communication because the company computer said that we were meant to drop the car off in Auckland, 2000km away. If the car was needed the next day we wouldhave to pay a fie of $500, fortunatly we got away with it and went to the airport to fly to Sydney.
