We finally picked up our hire car and sped off into the sunset. Well, not quite. That was after I'd learnt how to start the car, then how not to drive down one-way streets in Hobart.
We headed for Freycinet National Park in the hope of setting up camp in there. On the way, we went through Oatlands and Ross for an ice coffee and Lucy respectively. Our lunch consisted of economy bread and some kind of anonymous pink meat. I loved living on a budget, though I'm sure the novelty will wear off eventually. We then got to the beautiful Freycinet National Park at 6pm and after loading up a day pack each with overnight stuff we set of into the wilderness. And what a trip.
The view to wineglass bay was great, spoiled only by the cloudy sky. Arriving at the beach we saw a wallaby just bumming around, and at 8:30 after a deceptively long beach walk we arrived at a fairly busy campsite tucked away from the beach. I got out the peanuts which interested the local wallaby, Franco, who was literally eating them out of my hand! A dinner of chicken flavoured noodles and we sat and took in the very last of the evening light. The plan is to catch the sunrise at the bay in the morning.
