Yellowstone wasn't far from Idaho Falls and we made it there in an hour or so. It was only $25 per car for a weeks entry. We wanted to see the salt flats but we were wrongin thinking they were anywhere close to Salk Lake City. There is a big saltlake near the city which sometimes dries out into salt flats but the one wewanted to see was over three hours away. It was a full day of driving the next day, the plan was to make it to Salt Lake City. Most of the journey was through barren desert again so not much to look at. There were a few large rock formations which were quite interesting. After six hours of solid driving we only made it to Provo, a town just out of Salt Lake City where we stayed the night.

We didn't wake up dead, so we made a speedy exitin the morning and went to a gas station to fill up and buy an atlas. The guybehind the desk was really helpful and told us about the Grand Canyon NationalPark over on the south side of the Canyon, but it was a good 3 hours driveaway. Are plan for the day was to drive to the GrandCanyon via the Hoover Dam and find a place to stay near there. We managed toget to and drive over the Hoover Dam easy enough but the Grand Canyon was adifferent story.
