About 4 hours on the greyhound coach and we were in Airlie Beach. We had booked on a Whitsunday's boat tour but we weren't going out till the 5th of April so we had seven days to fill before we went out on the trip. We were staying at Nomads hostel again and the prices are getting noticeably higher as we go down the coast, so they did us a deal of $90 each for three nights and get the fourth night free that works out at $22.50 each for an eight bed dorm. ...

The bus took around three hours to Townsville then we had to catch a ferry over to Magnetic Island which only took about 20 minutes due to the super charged massive ferry that took us over! A two hour bus journey on the Greyhound and we were in Mission Beach. We had had 3 days of nice weather in cairns but on the way down we ran into more rain!! So no beach for us! Our first time down under, sunny sunny oz; after a long flight we walked out of the airport to RAIN!! Torrential rain!! We caught the bus to our hostel and quickly realised just how expensive things in Australia really are. Our room consisted of a double bed and a fan, we couldn't use the air con as it sounded like a train and it was a shared bathroom. After staying at Dave's for the night we flew with Singapore airlines to Singapore in the morning. We got there around one in the afternoon local time and caught a taxi to our hotel. Dave had kindly put us up in The Concorde Hotel. We checked in in the rather posh lobby and went up to our room to have a quick freshen up, the rooms were very nice with the comfiest bed we had had in a long time and we got two cushions each!! (a novelty in Asia we had realised)....
