Skinny dipping. Nudists beaches.
Are you giggling? Blushing? Mortified at the mention?
Today Matt faced two fears. Snakes in the jungle. And nudity on a public beach.
After being told about a great walk to a nearby beach, Matt and I headed off for the day (geeky walking boots included). However, 200m into this green, overgrown track we came across a big goanna. 10m later there was a snake on the path. I won't lie, we were a little freaked out. With a promise not to tell anyone about our freak out, we turned around to head the 200m back. That's when we met Zander.
A guy from Melb, straight out of high school and with quite an impressive beard! Zander wasn't a fan of snakes but decided to push on. We followed (but let him go first!)...
The views along the track were stunning! Forest covered mountains, clear blue water, sparkling beaches - definitely worth the hike! With a lot of sweat, a few swear words and no more snakey appearances, we made it to the beautiful beach we had been told about.
What we didn't realize what that it was a nudists beach...we had to be careful not to stare. Zander headed back into town leaving Matt and I on this gorgeous beach that was scattered with naked men and women. Matt was slightly freaked out by all the...parts. Especially when I told him we were getting naked too! .... When in Rome... or in this case, Brazil!
With some sweet encouragement followed by some bossy stern words ("Get your pants off now you sissy! Pants! Drop em! Now!) Matt dropped his dacks. We spent a good hour bareing our white bums on the beach and swimming in the water ... it was an amazing feeling - so refreshing! Needless to say I had to boss Matt into finally putting his pants back ON before we caught the bus back to town. Boys!!
On a side note, I'd like to thank Zander for this invigorating experience! If he hadn't turned up when he did, we wouldn't have continued on the track nor reached the nudist beach! (I bet he's glad he left us when he did though!)
So...What did we learn from this kids?
Skinny dipping can be a very refreshing experience in more ways than one!
