After travelling for 22 hours by train and being stared at closely the entire way by a nosey Chinese woman (there's no such thing as rude to stare in China) we arrived in Hong Kong. Our hostel was .. er interesting. The room was somewhere between a prison and a hospital. Clean but cell-like. The building was weird it was called King Chung Mansions or something and for some reason had crammed in all ethnic origins except for native HongKongens. Weird seeing Indian food stalls at every corner in China.
Hong Kong was pretty cool, was nice to be able to eat Western food as Willsy had gone of Chinese food a bit after he got sick. He discovered that 7eleven (asian equivelent of Spa) sold western sandwiches and after that for two days he subconsciously created a "sandwich song" that he sung under his breath all the time without realising. Pretty amusing.. basically started really quietly and ended with SANDWICH! really loud. Subconscious chanting. Weirdo! We did all the sights of HongKong and the boys got to eat McDonalds a few times so it was a pretty nice couple of days. But we didn't spend money on anything and still managed to spend a fortune.
Forgot to mention, Hong Kong has the longest escalator in the world, and guess what street its on ... SHELLEY STREET. Best.
After that we got another night train to a place called Yangshou. Willsy absolutely loves it here. Its basically 20,000 karsts (the things that Halong Bay has in Vietnam) with towns surrounding them. So no matter which way you look there are mini mountains everywhere. Very cool. The first day we just wandered around and checked out the town. Its a bit of a tourist mecca. Then willsy and simon went out for "dinner" together and I was woken to the sound of Matthew being sick! As was the rest of the dorm room. One too many beers I think, however, the beers are only about 3% so he should be a little embarrassed!! Today we cycled to a place called Moon Hill, its basically one of the mountain things with a hole in it. We climbed to the top and the view was pretty awesome.
Not much else to tell that I can think of, we're off to the water caves tomorrow, which is caves that contain natural hot springs and mud baths. Should be good.
