We´ve made it to Bolivia!
Well I think I left you in Cordoba. We had a couple of days in a really wicked hostel, made some friends, went out to a club and spent the rest of the time savagely hungover. After that we moved onto Salta and walked up a big hill. By this time we were really looking to get out of Argentina because it was really draining our money and we´d heard how cheap Bolivia is (the rumours are true!).
Highlights of Argentina:
- Almost loosing a toes in antartic Perito Merino Glacier, freezing cold but best thing ever
- Iguazu Falls water of epic proportions
- Asking for 3 pre-dinner orange juices in Buenos Aires and ACTUALLY ordering an entire orange flavoured flan
- Steak
- The beagle that lived on the balcony opposite our balcony in Cordoba
- Ice cream - one scoop is the equavalent to 4 scoops on England
- Accidentally portraying myself as a complete racist due to incorrect Spanish - I said "That was a long bus journey, I finally feel human again´ Hostel lady thought I said ´The people are a lot more human here than where we´ve been´. I failed to respond aswell to make it worse.
- The jolly man in the cafe that was the Spanish equivalent of my dad.
We took a 7 hour bus to the border (got up at 4.30am), waited at the border for AGES and all three of us got super dizzy and had to sit down due to the altitude. Everywhere in Bolivia is over 2,500 metres pretty much and you reaaaally feel it. I dont think I´ve ever experienced altitude before, but you get completely puffed out by just walking a few steps. We went to dinner with three English boys that we met and everyone had a little bit of beer and it was like we were all giddy. Giggling over nothing, knocking things over etc. It sounds fun but its actually a bit scary because your heart beats really fast all the time, you feel faint and you have a head ache. Apparently it does last too long so we should climatize soon. We all feel a lot better today. Bolivia is super cheap so far, the foods a lot nicer and last night I got a steak, chips, rice and salad for 1 pound! Amazing.
Anyway, we´re going horseriding this afternoon and then going on a four day tour across salt flats, green, blue and red lakes and other such things. Should be good. Theres 9 of us going in two jeeps with our own personal cooks! I´ll let you know how it goes! xx
