We had a two hour bus journey which took us to Cape Jervis from Adelaide where we caught the ferry to Kangaroo Island. Our guide picked us up from the port along with five others. We stopped at various nice beaches before going to a eucalyptus farm which wasn't that exciting but they had a baby possum and a little joey to entertain us.
After lunch we stopped at seal bay where we walked amongst sea lions in their natural habbitat on a guided tour. This was our highlight of KI as they are endangered and it is the only place in the world where you can walk next to them on the beach. We chilled out at Little Sahara and tried sandboarding which was fun but tiring climbing up the dunes. After stopping for a quick swim (actually very quick as it was so cold) we went to a koala sanctuary in search of the little rascals. We found quite a few as well as echidnas, wallabies and a wedge-tailed eagle. Note to mum and dad: Jo would like a koala for her birthday.
After having dinner at our cool farmstay we went on a guided nocturnal walk. We saw loads of kangaroos as they are more active at night. The KI kangaroos won't run away from humans but they might punch or kick you if they feel threatened...so Jo stroked one the next day
We had brekky and headed to the Remarkable Rocks which were...remarkable! At Admirals Arch we saw the less endangered seal colony. These guys were very playful considering they had just spent weeks out at sea feeding. In the afternoon we went to some really nice beaches before going to the pub for dinner and then catching the ferry back to Adelaide.
