I woke up around 7.30am and the Russian man promptly offered me a tea bag and a sweet. Neither of the men (Andre and Micha) spoke English but Micha, the older guy did try; he showed us a booklet of some boats and a picture of a dog. We showed him Mrs Colin. He offered Matt a beer (at 11am). Then Olga came round; she had swapped her knee length boots for socks and slippers and had curlers in her hair. She vacuumed, ordering us all to lift our feet up and then kind of wiped around us all. She chatted and laughed with the 2 men no doubt saying, 'You poor b*****s stuck with these 2 English twits, can't even read numbers you know…'
The rest of the journey was pretty uneventful; we took a picture of Micha (Andre had got off earlier at a place called Perm) and bid him farewell as we arrived in Yekaterinburg at around 9pm. We're now 5 hours ahead of GMT. As it was late we negotiated a taxi and for some reason the taxi driver and his mate got in. This caused immediate concern on my part. They drove around turning every which way and looking at a map for ages, I'm not sure how genuine this uncertainty of our hotel's location was, but anyway, we got here. It's actually a nice hotel and lovely to have our own space for a couple of nights as I don't think we'll get this for some time.
