We hit airlie beach which is the jump off point for the whitsundays on the morning of erins birthday, after we got into our hostel we had a bit of a walkaround and booked a table for that evening at a mexican restaurant for her birthday. airlie was quite nice but really small with just one road with all the bars and hostels and stuff on and a big lagoon style swimming pool next to the beach which is open to everyone because u cant swim in the sea here! The mexican was wicked and as a bonus it was chilli tuesday which meant it was all u could eat chilli, so i went for that, after a large amount of chilli and alcohol and some birthday shots for erin we turned in ready for our whitsundays trip the next day! As soon as we met up for our trip we noticed that our cheap deal to sail the whitsundays was because we had been booked onto a party boat and to put it nicely we soon noticed we would be sharing the next few days with around 60 under 18 year old pissed up idiots, which would of been fine if we were in magaluff on an 18-30's but we really wanted to see the best of the whitsundays because they are supposed to be beautiful, instead it wasnt really focused on the whitsundays and more just on getting to south molle island where our dorm rooms were and getting u into the bar there to spend loads of money, we were a bit gutted but thats wot happens when u do these cheaper trips! over the two nights tree days we were out on the catamaran most the time in the day but really didnt see any of the best reefs which were further out we did however get to go to whitehaven beach which was probably the most beautiful beach in australia it was amazing, just a shame we didnt get to see the rest, next time we will splash out i think and pay for the better boats with only a few people on that take u to the best spots! after our trip we had another night in airlie beach, we are not sure if it made the news back in england but when we were here a couple of divers got left out on the reef over night after thier boat left them, there was a massive search party, boats, planes helicopters it was mental nobody thought they would find them alive because of all the tiger sharks but they found them drifting the next day and still alive, it was on the news everywhere here! Scary! after all that excitement and another horrific haircut for me we headed off again!
