M P is reputed to have only housed about 100 people for 100 years. The arrival of the Spanish and internal Inca struggles between two brothers forced people to abandon it and it was only found a lot later in the 20th century by Bingham an American explorer and was therefore not destroyed / seriously damaged by the Spanish... when Bingham arrived the only guys living there were a few shepherds!
