A mini van (or mini wan as the thais called it) picked us up at 9am from our hotel. It took us to the pier and we got on our boat about half an hour later. 1 episode of Mr Bean later and we arrived. WOW! It was even more amazing than Koh Samui! We jumped off the boat and a local handed us a free map of the island. We soon pointed our hotel on the map, it was right next to the pier and by the looks of the beach and water here we were well excited to see our hotel. The local taxi men tried to blag us to take a taxi for 100baht each but Matty insisited he knew they way and it would only take 5 minutes. Which it did, god knows how he found it but a short walk later we arrived at Lime n Soda. We checked in and our little bungalow was right near to the recption. It was a gorgeous day and the hotel looked amazing already! Our room was only little but it had nice cold air con and was a 2 second walk from the beach. We went straight down to the beach and we couldnt believe our luck. We didnt really look into the hotel when we booked it so we didnt really know what to expect. This was paradise! We had our own beach and the pool overlooked the beach and sea. There was a bar on the beach too which played amazing tunes all day! We had promised each other we wernt going to drink after feeling so ill the day before, but we felt we needed to celebrate with a couple of heinikens! Which were the same price as the Changs, get in!! We ordered some food and took some cool pictures of the beach we didnt even have to move from our seats!
We went back to our room later on in the afternoon and relaxed with a few more beers and updated our blog, sorted out our bags while enjoying some thai pop tunes on the tele! We loved it that much here already that we booked another 4 nights which meant we would be staying a whole week YESS!! The sun was just going down so before our tea we went and took some pictures and admired the view - it really was amazing. We got some tea in the restaurant that also looked over the sea and bumped into 2 girls who had stayed in the same hotel as us in Koh Samui - weird!
The next morning we were up and straight on the beach to sunbathe. After a few hours we walked out into the sea. It was shallow and went deeper until we came to a high raise of sand were the sea was so calm and the water only came up to your ankles. We were about half a mile out into the sea but we could sit in the still water which was crystal clear and still here the music from our bar. On the walk back we didnt realise how far out it was and instead of dodging the seaweed like a maze like we did on the way out we just swam over it and had a race back to the shore. Even with a head start I still lost! The next few days we did nothing but sunbathe, swim out into the sea, drink cocktails and swim in the pool, it was so pretty here we didnt want to leave.
A couple of days later we rented out a bike and decided to explore the island. The map seemed pretty similair to Koh Samui but when we headed out alot of the roads were really steep and windy. There were loads of cracks and bumps in the roads so Matt had to dodge them carefully. Again like in Koh Samui we stopped of for gas, and took some pictures of the sceneary. We wanted to go to a place called Koh Ma which is an island just off the north of Koh Phangan which is connected by a long piece of sand. It took us about an hour on the bike, we were made up as none of the hotels or beaches we had driven past came up to scratch with the old Lime n Soda. Ha! We drove past the sign for Koh Ma so we quickly turned round and went down the steep hill towards the beach. We parked up and walked over it was really nice. Matty couldnt wit to get sunbathing so he said "waheyy get the towels out babe"... oops i'd forgotten to pack them. He was not too impressed! Ha! We had our cozzies on under our clothes anyway so we put our bag down and went into the sea and did some standing up sunbathing! ha. After a few hours we got back on our bike and headed off towards Bottle Beach - a small secluded island you could only reach by boat or by trekking through the jungle. We were driving along and drove past a truck that had crashed and over turned into a ditch in the side of the road. We stopped to check if everything was ok and an australian girl told us it happened last night and it was her dad driving. Luckily no one was hurt!! It started to pour down with rain so we stopped off in a little fishing town for a drink and decided to get a massage while we waited the rain out. What a hard life! haha. It was the best massage we have had so far it was amazing - Im even tempted to be brave and get a Thai massage next time! After our massage and the rain had cleared we started to drive back - the roads had dried already! I think we missed a turning and we ended up driving down another main road that was really quiet, after shouting at each other through the wind while on the bike bickering over which way to go, we decided to stay on the road and finally saw a sign to Thongsala. We soon ended up at a Tesco Lotus, which we knew wasnt far from our hotel. We went in for a look around - nothing as crazy as the one in China! So we grabbed a few essentials and I carried them on the back of the bike while we drove home.
The next day after sunbathing and swimming again, we wanted to go to the Muay Thai boxing that was on that night. The man at recption tried to blag us that we should get a taxi for 50 baht but again Matthew Ray Mears Dougherty navigated our way there within 10 minutes! It was 600baht and our seats were right next to the ring. I was a bit aprehensive about watching boxing but after the first fight I was well into it. There were 6 fights in all, it wasnt very nice seeing some of the lads being knocked out and there trainers smacking them to bring them back round! They boxed to a weird Indian sounding song and they looked like they were dancing at first so it took them a while to get into each fight! It ended up being a really good night and after a few sang soms we were ready to party! We asked a taxi driver to take us to Haadrin - were the full moon party is, but there are loads of bars on the beach there and there are partys every night. He rang his mate and a toyota taxi pulled up and we jumped in. There about 8 people in there already and told us they were going to a pool party! So they asked if we wanted to join them. 10 minutes later we arrived at Coral Bungalows and it was packed! There were people everywhere drinking buckets and partying in the pool. We ordered a sang som red bull bucket - but we were less than happy with the amount of sang som he put in there haha so on the 2nd bucket we made sure they put enough in! We walked towards the beach and a big fat guy tried to push me in the pool. I grabbed Mattys arm and he was wondering what I was doing. He pushed me again and I nearly fell - I would off just gone in but I had the camera in my bag!! I told matty once we reached the other side of the pool and he said "at some time tonight he's getting chucked in!" We danced and drank buckets for a couple of hours before we decided to leave. We couldnt of timed it better, the big fat german had just bought a bucket and was kneeling down chatting to his mate who was in the pool, he was fully clothed and Matty ran up behind him and threw him in. Hahaha! A group of lads high fived Matt before we quickly tried to make our getaway before I fell over and he caught up with us!! "You Vvucking Vaarrrstarrds" hahahaha He was alright in the end and grabbed us both to get us wet! He was more bothered about his bucket he had just bought that was now pool water and ice ha!!! We got in a taxi and staggered back to our room!
The next day was overcast so we could just chill and be hungover! We caught up on a few things, collected our washing we had sent off the day before - fresh clothes mmm! We also booked our trip for Krabi the next day! That night we went and got a pizza from our new favourite Italian restaurant Chiara's and a bottle of red wine - heaven!
We had to be up the next morning at 5.30am for our taxi to pick us up at 6.30am to take us to the pier. It was a wet and windy morning and the boat was reaaally choppy! But after a week of paradise we didnt care. We had the best week ever here and we'd go back tommorow!!
Next stop Krabi...
