After our big meal and wine we slept well but when we wake it is quite cold around 5 deg.
Ali uses the site laundry to catch up on clothes and towels, meaning it is nearly midday when we check out of this lovely site at Ronda. We exchange texts with Grete to arrange our rendezvous later today.
The hills around Ronda are dramatic, but this morning we are on wider and slightly straighter roads, but we spend a lot of time descending at various degrees from the 768 metre altitude of the site.
Gradually the stark rock becomes woodland and the slopes ease off, as does the odd patch of drizzle. At lunchtime we divert into a small town called Villemartin where Ali finds a patisserie and buys some sort of pastry puffs which turn out to have candied fruit inside.
As we approach Jerez the landscape changes dramatically; much greener with rolling hills and brown, fertile soil. Some of the vegetation is the greenest we've seen for weeks.
The dual carriageway eats up the miles, especially with the Eagles blasting out their best of hits.
Two miles on a narrow road through pretty woods brings us to the campsite at 15:10. We check in and get pitched 10 minutes before Nick and Grete arrive.
As we are good and early there is chance to rig washing lines and do fluid and tyre checks on the vans. We also look at options for visiting Cadiz, but it is carnival week and the lady in reception tells us parking would be impossible and public transport is not available near the site. So that's twice we've tried for Cadiz [once on a cruise was cancelled due to a strike] and twice local events have prevented us, so it will be to Jerez and Seville for our next installments.
The cool wind knocks off any ideas about a barbeque tonight so Grete does a sausage and pasta recipe she learned in Sardinia.
