Amanda and I made it to Reykjavik and during our bus ride, her friend Matthías finally responded to her message about our arrival. So, we upon arriving at the bus stop near downtown, we waited for him to show up. I can honestly say had Matthías not shown up, we probably would have gotten back on the bus and gone back to Keflavik.
The weather was terrible. Coming from 90+ degree weather to about 50 with cold rain and a bitter wind, we were definitely not up for trekking through downtown Reykjavik. However, we followed Matthías into a cafe called Tía (I'll specify the name later) and had lunch and coffee. Then, he lead us around until we reached a famous hot dog stand. Apparently, hot dogs are the drunken love food of Iceland. Think a slice of pizza at 2am on the weekends in America. I did not enjoy the hot dog. It was...different. We explored a bit more until the rain picked up again at which point Matthías asked if we wanted to see his university. It was so nice! Everyone was dressed so trendy!
On our walk back to the bus station, all Amanda and I could do was laugh. Honestly, we had a great time. However, if the rain had just stopped, it would have been a totally awesome day. Oh well, at least we explored instead of giving up before we started
Now, we're on our plane to London. I can't wait to be there. And I can't wait to sleep. I've been up since 7am yesterday east coast time. No fun. However, I definitely want to explore a bit first. We'll see if we have time!
