Never again that's all l can say, unless really desperate!!! Our roadhouse stop over was noisy to say the least. Marty and l were woken several times overnight by roadtrains pulling up for their stopovers. They bloody turned around within a meter of the bloody caravan!!! What the?!?! The worst were the cattle roadtrains as all you could hear were the cattle moving about and mooing! Oh well, who needs sleep. Surprisingly the girls slept in, again, what the?!?! Must be like when you have a vacuum going for a baby, the constant noise keeping them content....
We drove took a drive thru Charters Towers after we'd packed up. It is a historical looking place with beautiful old restored buildings such as the old post office, the city hall, the local hospital and the stock exchange archade. I took a few pics from the car as l think we were all a bit tired and over it and just wanted to get to Townsville to set up permanently for a while. I hope we dont kick ourselves later for just quickly passing thru as it did pass our minds to maybe stay here and work for a few weeks. The town just looked so clean, old and beautiful......time will tell.
Anyway, we can't live with regret so time to move forward and head to Townsville which we will call home for a month to six weeks pending work and how we like it. The drive, 133km, was uneventful and filled with straight roads and bush landscapes.
We arrived in Townsville around 11:30am and Marty and l were at each others throats a little, think due to lack of sleep?! After a few tit for tat passings with each other we got over ourselves and cooled down to work out where we were going to call hone for a month or so. We drove to a couple of caravan parks to check them out with the price difference between them being up to $600 per month!! We settled on Magnetic Gateway Holiday Village in the suburb Cluden, only 10 mins from both city center and the hospital were l hope to find some work... This place only costs us $218/week then after the fourth week it will drop to $198/week, not too bad really compared to the others wanting $300-400/week!!
We got to setting up, both totally knackered and not wanting to do this. We set up fully with the annex off the caravan with another room off the annex (first time we have done this set up), and greatfully we are still married and no curse words were exchanged lol.... The caravan looks so spacious with all our crap and boxes of stuff being out in the extra room.
After the busy day, Marty and l reflected while sorting our photos put on the laptop finally. We miss our Frenchman Crew mates but are enjoying following them all on Facebook. Both Marty and l are missing camping, the campfire and the isolation. Funnily enough, we are having to adjust to civilization. The people, the shops and the bitumen lol...
Both of us thought we were going to look forward to our luxuries of the caravan and the park but amusing as it is l am missing dirty feet, squatting to go to the toilet and cooking over a campfire!!! Will have to get over it though and suck it up as funds are getting a little low so have to work and thats why we're here.....the holiday is temporarily on hold while we get back to reality for a little while! Seeing there will be nothing much happening for a while the blogs might slow down a little....
