Right, if anyone is planning on going to Texas, then you must go to Fort Worth, 30 miles west of Dallas, I've had one of the best day's of the trip so far!
We set off early this morning after a day of watching back to back movies and eating chilli. We arrived in Fort Worth around 11am, and headed out for food!!! We checked out LEDDY's and picked myself up a cowboy hat! $50, money well spent, folks it will be winging its way back to the UK very soon after Austin! Felt a bit stoopid for a while wearing it, but it certainly helped with the 35C + heat and felt a bit of a local! Downtown Fort Worth called the Sundance Square is awesome, full of restaurants, cafe's and shops, so much more going on than in Dallas!
We took a cab to the Stockyards area and it was just like being in a country and western film! Mike picked up a hat too, and we were set to strut around and head to the saloon! We got chatting to the locals in there, one guy was a proper rich Texan, with a 400$ cowboy hat with matching belt and boots! He was a right character - we immediately made a school boy error by taking off our hats and putting them base side down, apparently its the other way around! We sat there all afternoon drinking a couple of bud lights and chatting about Texas and sports! It was amazing!
It's 1am here now, heading to bed in a mo, off to Austin, Texas at 12pm tomorrow, thankfully only a 3 hour journey! We're thinking about fitting in a sly visit to Colorado, watch this space!
YEHAW!
