*Evening Update*
Well, settling into the life of a New Yorker already! Was asked today by a local for directions, "Which way to 7th Avenue", I pointed straight away in the right direction! Awesome! NY is so easy to get around!
We've had some adventures today, we've seen so much, went to bed last night at 7pm, yes, 7pm... slept round the clock and was feeling very good and ready for the day! Filled up on the free breakfast, with several refills of cor-fee (coffee) and juice and fruit and headed for the Empire State, check out the pics for some of the view, absolutely amazing, froze up there though, so cold here at the mo! Also, leavin the Empire State the fire alarm was ringing and fire brigade outside, they looked a little bermused as we took photos of them! We love the American flag flying at the back of the fire trucks!
Headed to a diner for some more cor-fee and food, got a few snaps of mike reading the New York Post, we felt very cool!
Today we've had a drink in FAO Schwarz, the BIGGEST toy shop in the world, we were rather excited! Checked out central park, nice to get out the hussle and bustle for a bit, even managed to catch a photo of a squirrel! Went inside St Patricks which is massive, but that is even dwarfed by skyscapers ( my neck is killing from looking up all day ) We went inside Grand Central Station, and grand it is, amazing, marble floors, chandliers, everything, check out the pics. Checked out the Rockafella Centre, Chrysler buildin! Headed back down 7th past NY Public Library! plan to head there tomorrow and have a look inside.
Tomorrow we're going to stock up on free breaky again, and head to our first hostel, its even nearer Times Square! We have been abiding by the walk/don't walk signs, but here, the locals just go for it! Its insanity! And bikes, they just race through traffic, never seen anything like it! So, back to tomorrow, heading south to the financial district, going to check out the subway, and take the stratten island ferry and get a little closer to the statue of liberty! Tonight, going to grab some dinner, and have a few long necks! (beers)
Big hello to the folks, and family and all at global, hope i'm not making you all too jealous, but i'm lovin it over here! Yesterday was a very weird feeling day, travelled so far, kept having to remind yourself you were in america, but today, feels great!
I think the Big Apple Hostel has tinternet, though not sure, if not will have to check out for some internet cafes!
See ya all!
*Morning Update*
Hello from New York CITY!!!
We made it! No problems with the flights, caught our first cab to our hotel, and as you can see, we have the most amazing view! Can see the Empire State Building, I woke up in the middle of the night to catch it all lit up, absolutely amazing! Its 8am here, just in the 'Business Centre' About to head out for some free breaky! Then head up the Empire State. Yesterday was an awesome day, very strange feeling. We checked into our hotel, and headed straight out, we're right on 7th Av, 29th St, 'downtown' Manhatten! We headed north all the way up to Times Square, amazing place! Then we headed off for a few pints, tried out the Coors Light... not too bad, but think i'll stick with Bud in the future! And had my first New York Strip Steak! Amazing! just a small 12oz! ;)
Hope all is well, and will be updating you all tonight, heading to Central Park later!
See you all later!
