...and now the horror begins.
Our room in Paguia's Cottages was not bad at all. It had air-conditioning, two large beds that could fit about 4 people each, a fairly decent bathroom, cable TV, and a fridge.
Our stay in Paguia's Cottages did not start out well, unfortunately. It wasn't because of the place—in fact, our room was not bad at all. It had air-conditioning, two large beds that could fit about 4 people each, a fairly decent bathroom, cable TV, and a fridge. What we had a problem with was its staff, specifically this lady named Tessie. To make a long story short, we encountered an inconvenience that was clearly NOT our fault but theirs: a male staff member misinformed us of the room rates when we spoke to him over the phone. When we were about to check in, Tessie informed us that there is no such room that costs Php 1200/night, the amount given to us by the male staff just a few days prior. Aside from that, the cost of the tour also increased due to high gas prices, according to Tessie. She also lied to us about not having a male staff member, implying that what we were claiming was impossible. After one of us snapped and asked her in a sarcastic tone (in Tagalog), "So you're saying either we are liars or that one of us actually spoke to a male ghost over the phone?" She later "remembers" that they actually had one, her husband's brother, who might have been the one we spoke to. This conversation ended with her not giving even a hint of an apology and us being too tired to keep arguing. If you're planning to stay in Camiguin for a night or more, you don't have to settle for Paguia's Cottages. Keep your Camiguin stay stress-free and look for other accommodations, as there are a lot of them scattered around town.
Dinner turned out to be unpleasant as well. We ended up in this restaurant called Terrasse International Ristorante, a place referred to us by the locals because it's supposed to have the best pizza in the island. So we went, we ordered, and we waited. We waited for A FULL HOUR for our food. As early as about 15 minutes into waiting for our orders we already asked the waitresses about our food and they kept on saying that it's coming in a few, coming in a few. After an hour of waiting, our food finally gets served. By the way, the food WAS SO NOT WORTH THE WAIT as well as the price. How frustrating.
Well I guess one just can't have it all, right? A nice place does not guarantee that its people are nice too.
