Despite all predictions I've managed to leave work in time to speed to the airport and catch my international flight to Oslo connecting in Frankfurt. Against all expectations I made it with 10 minutes to spare on the boardig time, precious minutes which I allocated to purchasing a 10€ plastified dry and smelly sandwich at the stickiest airport bar ever concieved.
Action I easily could've foregone in favour of a much needed trip to the loo to wear my thermals in preparation of weather to come, as Frankfurt airport was jammed with 'Italian' bars, selling the yummiet looking dishes..
(Quick recap:Italy sells s*** and Germany sells premium Italian food, makes perfect sense).
The flight from Frankfurt to Oslo was sickeningly bumpy and oddly smelly ( possibly due to the curry chicken sandwiches they served as a snack) and yet I managed to slip on my sleep mask stolen on a recent Qatar airways flight and dead sleep through the entire rollercoaster ride waking up in the land mooses, home to all Salmons where I came to the quick realisation that the ten minutes invested in gutwrenching sandwich purchases would've been better spent changing money as, per my shocking discovery, Norway has not adopted te Euro( thing I would've known had I taken one single minute to think about my upcoming trip) and I was ultimately screwed out of any chance to pay my way throughout the weekend.
Granted I landed at midnight I was baffled by the fascination with the arrivals dutyfree shop, crawling with more shoppers than Topshop on sales Saturday. Turns out the reason behind this is that Alcool and tobacco consumption (snuuus) is regulate by the government by only allowing a few shops to sell these items, at an overcharged rate and only at given times.
Despite the escalating alcohol consumption Norwegians are amazingly passionate about sports, mainly skiing. I was petrified to see locals board flights in their skiing gear and what was more confusing is that the Oslo airport express was displaying snow conditions worldwide. Dammit even their chees is sponsored by a skier!!
I definitely don't think I will fit in here with my high heels and lazy attitude.. Wish me Luck
