Just lovely!

We followed the shoreline round the Firth of Forth (after being woken by very large boats passing very close to window!) to Largs. Many people were there enjoying the sunshine on the prom. We came back to Greenock on a very narrow winding road through beautiful hills with even more,as always, in the distance. And of course, there were lochs and streams and very few people.

Greenoch is in the most beautiful setting on the banks of the Clyde but seems quite a depressed area. Not dirty at all or full of people doing nothing, just depressed. The car parks are free which made me think nobody wants to come here. The shipyards are no more, it was badly bombed in WW2, Tate & Lyle went, IBM came and went. There`s lots of evidence that people are trying to revitalise it but they seem to have give up before anything is finished. Anyway, ...

The journey from Inverness to Greenock was quite stunning.We couldn`t quite believe how lovely it all was. The blue sky and the sun shining on the lochs and mountains meant that we saw them at their very best. We went west to Fort William with Loch Ness shining in the sun on one side and craggy mountains on the other. Set amongst the mountains just before Fort William is a memorial to the Commandoes as that is where they trained.Very lovely place for them to be ...
