Today it's the 23rd of February and for the first time so far I have the feeling that i have to plan abit to get the last out of my India stay. So far i have been to Mumbai, Aurangabad, Lonar, Ellora, Jhansi, Orchha, Khajuraho, Satna and now Varanasi. The flow of new sights and experiences is like a waterfall rushing over you. The first week really felt like a month, every single second there were something new, every corner of a street new people and faces.
The colors of India is overflowing, the rush of the streets, beggars trying to get money, salesmen trying desperatly to sell you something, Richshaw drivers driving like crazed, and the overflow of new smells. At the same time the smiles, the jokes, the good times and the nice people trying their best to show you the way to the next temple.
Varenasi, the city of Shiva, the holiest city in India, what a mace! If I stayed here for a year the streets would still confuce me. Small streets going everywhere, signs in Hindi telling you this store is the best or it has this and that. Packed with persons, you go trough the streets turmoil to find your next destination, which is pretty hard. Not to mention the Ganges, the holy river, a river of salvation, a everlasting symbol of hope to the past, present and the future generations. It's a astonishing look, the fires of people getting cremated by the riverside, the men and women taking their morning bath, the boatriders trying to sell you a ride on the ganges in ranges from 80 rupies total to 400 rupies. The "Oldest" town in the world, its overwhelming i don't know how to put it in words. To describe this town you would have to be a person that has been here, seen the sights, smelled the smells, had a richshaw driver follow you around trying to sell you a ride you don't want, seen the sights at the Ganges, tried to sneak around a cow or 3 in a narrow street or just tried to find your way around.
Its worth a visit!
